FA Crew Scheduling Question

Wed Apr 30, 2003 9:27 am

We have a new Lufthansa non-stop from FRA to PDX every day. The inbound flight from Frankfurt arrives at about 2:30 pm and departs at about 4:30 pm. Since this is the only Lufthansa flight we have, how do they work the crews with only one flight a day? Do they just fly every other day and stay in Portland for 24 hours? Any spare crew members? Might any deadhead back on the immediate return trip? Any LH crew out there?? Thanks to LH for putting "International" back in our airport's name!

If it's anything like what I know, they'd have a full crew and possibly extras on the PDX side.. BA keeps some @ DTW for their flights LHR-DTW-LHR.. I dunno how many, but they have a few at least..

I dunno for sure, but the inbound crew will probably spend anywhere from 24-48 hours in PDX before returning. This just works in cycles since the flights are everyday...

They most likely get to PDX at 2:30, then takeoff the next day at 4:30, as most transatlantic crews do coming to the US from Europe.

I'd be willing to bet it would be a 3 day trip, therefore giving the crew only 26 hours in PDX. Short enough...

Either in PDX for 2 - 3 days (16hrs minimum rest required ?) or they deadhead to another place from PDX to a place with a better "pool" of crew... but then again, I don't work in PDX nor do I work for LH  Smile
