707cmf Is Having His PPL Written Today

Wed Jul 16, 2003 5:02 pm

Will he fail miserably or will he pass with flying colors (no pun intended  Smile)
Or maybe it's easier in Elbonia...

Whereever he takes the test (Elbonia? Big grin ), I wish him good luck!

In the UK (JAA) there are 6 written exams to do.. and we can do them whenever we want, normally separately, during the PPL training (Air Law has to be passed before 1st solo anyway).

Do you have to do them all in one day in France? That seems a bit harsh.

Is that for a JAA licence? There must be a similar standard in there somewhere...

Hi, just back from it.

Elbonia is part of JAA, but I had my test in France, also part of JAA  Wink/being sarcastic
It is 'only' 5 written exams, you can do them separately, but you can also have them all in the same day - which I chose to do, not wanting to do the 1 hour drive to LYS one more time in September.

It may seem harsh, but the test is actually quite easy (I'm saying that now, but maybe next week, when I learn I've failed miserably, I won't be singing the same song), and it took the whole afternoon (check in at 13.15, checkout around 18.00).

Some of it is really a joke. For the 'human factor and human limitations' part, we had 15 minutes to answer 12 questions (it is a multichoice test), I had it all answered after 1.15 minute... had to re-read myself twice in order not to give my copy back before 5 minutes.

We don't have to pass the Air Law test before the first solo (obviously, as I've soloed already  Wink/being sarcastic ), but my FI made sure that I already knew the relevant regulation for a simple circuit.

Ah, last detail. We were about 20/30 to have the test, but apparently, I was the only one to wear a A.net T-Shirt. (I tried to go spotting at LYS afterwards, but it was actually deader than CMF in summer !)

Ok, and Aloges, thanks, apparently, I had some luck today !

cheers,

Antoine

I remember by PPL (private) writtens well, even though its more than eight years ago now - I did one a day over six days. After I did the "Human Perf" exam and got 100%, the examiner was kind enough to say "well that was 30% wasted effort" - back then the UK PPL the pass mark was 70%.

I hope you've done well Antoine, and don't worry if you've slipped on one - they can be redone very easily and once the majority are out of the way its easy to concentrate on the last one.

Wow...here in the US the PPL written is a 60 question multiple choice test taken over 2.5 hours at the most...and there are study guides that give all the possible questions (the 60 questions are chosen out of a bank of around 800 or so) so if you study hard enough its not really a surprise or overly difficult...

You notice too much, UTA.

If you must ask, I should receive the results in the course of next week.

Okay, as for spotting at LYS afterwards, here is the only thing I could bring back :
