Anti-lock Braking Systems

Sun Sep 28, 2003 5:55 pm

G'day all

A couple of questions re: braking systems:

1. When using manual braking on landing, do you feel the pedal pulse like when you get on the anchors in a car with ABS?

2. In the photo below you can see the brake pressure gauge. Is this the accumulator pressure or just system pressure? If it is an accumulator gauge when is it specifically checked? Before using the park brake? If alternate brakes are needed?

It is a similar feel.

Accumulator pressure.

...when is it specifically checked?

When the checklists call for it to be checked and everytime I turn in toward a gate (no exit path available).

Actually, the pressure guage is displaying both accumulator and brake system pressure. If the Hydraulic systems are powered, you will see the system pressure through the accumulator 3000 +/- psi. When Hyd systems are off, then you will see the true accumulator pressure.
