An-72/An-74 Wing - Supercritical?

Sat Oct 25, 2003 11:56 am

When the An-72 first flew in the 1970s, supercritical wings were a trend in commercial aircraft design. Is the An-72/An-74 wing a supercritical design?

Looks like a pretty normal wing to me. I fact, I would say that a supercritical wing probably won't work as well when trying to get the "Caonda" effect (sp?) from the thrust being passed over the upper surface of the wing.
