Landing Lights On Fog Conditions

Do they t/o with landing lights off? Because I was on EHAM tonght, and I only heard planes, did see nothing. Also landing planes were all lights off... Is that normal? I guess its because the will blind theirselves with it...

Sometimes in thick fog pilots would turn off the landing lights during approach like you said, they would blind themselves with the reflection of the lights against the clouds.  Smile

Exactly same effect as in your car - fog or clouds... blinding yourself.
Closed subject I think.
Or do we get the usual count down of the passenger's opinion...?
"My flight landed with them last week...
"And mine yesterday without landing lights...
