FO Wears Oxygen Mask On To?

Fri Jan 16, 2004 9:02 pm

During this TO shot I took at EBBR on rwy 02, you'll notice that the FO is wearing an oxygen mask.
I think it's the first time I see this kind of procedure.

Does anybody knows why?

Here is the pic unfortunately rejected.

To me, it doesn't look like he's wearing his mask at all, and what you're seeing is actually an illusion created by the post between the #2 and #3 window over on the captain's side.

Just my 2 cents....

Yep you probably are right maybe just an optical illusion, didn't had my binoculars that day.
I think there's a shade left of the captain or something obstructing the view.

Sorry my mistake

Cheers

If he is wearing it, which I don't think he is. He could just be checking to make sure everything is working.

I have seen it on rare instances where, say the captain needs to use the washroom, per some company procedures the F/O would have to wear the oxygen mask while the captain is gone, for safety I would believe.
I know this as we have been called out to aircraft where the O2 mask has been used, and the crewmember can't stow it.

Obviously this would not apply in this situation, but nice to know info.

Break ground, and head into the wind. Don't break wind and head into the ground.

Sorry, I thought he was still taxiing. Yeah, I don't see why he would have it on during T/O
