Mon Feb 02, 2004 5:10 pm

The following flight vertical load acceleration limits are specified in the FAA Flight Manual for B732s,

(a) Flaps up .........................................................2.5g to -1.0g
(b) Flaps down.....................................................2.0g to 0.0g

What is the Maximum vertical loads it can sucessfully take under test conditions.

The simple answer is that we don't know how much they can actually take. That's why we have safety margins when designing them.  Smile

But if you ever get a chance, check out imagery of destructive testing of wings. The forces and amount of bending they can sustain before breaking is nothing short of amazing.

Cheers,
Fred
