Soviet Jet Ranges?

Mon Feb 09, 2004 10:21 am

I am currently reading REG Davis book on Aeroflot and in it there are comparisons of the soviet planes to western counterparts. My question is in nearly all cases the Soviet planes have much lower range figures listed than the western counterparts taht are about the same size. Could those Soviet engines be such gas hogs??

Alot of them do have short ranges, but some have good range like the Tu114 and Il62.

Yes.

And if you're reading Aeroflot: An Airline an its Aircraft you rock because that book is way cool. So are the Pan Am and Delta editions (and I want the TWA and Eastern ones too).
