Decoding Metar?

Sun Mar 07, 2004 3:40 am

Hello everyone,

My apologies, if this topic isn't suppose to be in this forum. Here is the METAR

LPMA METAR 061800Z 22009KT 3000 HZ FEW015 19/14 Q1023 "RS2010KT 051908KT 232214KT"

The section in between the quotes is where I am having difficulty decoding, can someone help me please?

I'm not 100% on this, but I'm thinking the parts in the quotation marks might be readings for different anemometers (the instruments that measure wind speed) around the airport. Especially since they seem to be showing approximately the same value. Having multiple anemometers can be helpful in avoiding wind shear. If two say the wind is going one direction, and the third says something completely opposite, look out.

I see that this airport is not in the US. While all ICAO countries use similar metars, there are a few things that may be slightly different. I would reccomend looking for something published in that country about metars, that should help you.
