Manufacturer Callsigns

Sun Aug 22, 2004 1:56 pm

do aircraft manufacturers have thier own callsign or do they use the aircraft registration when flying? i've been wondering about this for a while now. say for a promotional tour of an aircraft, would they then use a callsign over a registration?

Accoring to http://www.airlinecodes.co.uk:

-Airbus uses the callsign "Airbus Industrie" (not to be confused with Airbus Transport International, whose callsign is "Super Transport").

-Boeing uses the callsign "Boeing."

-McDonnell Douglas used "Daco."

Etc...

When Embraer had their 170 demo at STL they just used "embraer XA-****" as their callsign. No special flight number or anything like that.
