A Day In The LIfe Of A WN Jet

Sat Oct 23, 2004 12:33 pm

I always found this topic interesting. I was wondering if any Southwest insiders could post a month in the life of each type of Southwest's jets (-200, -300, -500, -700).

Frequentflykid,
This was, believe it or not, discussed on airliners.net sometime during the past year or two. I remember seeing the calendar for one particular SWA jet and where it went each day with the times, airports, etc. It would certainly be difficult to find in a search but it's worth a try in the meantime as the SWA employees of this website find something if they can.

I know I saved it but I can't find it on my computer, just a UAL 777 month.

Yes, I do remember and I've tried several times to find that thread. My efforts have turned up nothing.

Thank you 737doctor. Does anybody have anything more recent or for different series aircraft?

With 400+ aircraft, there are about 400+ variations, and far too many to post. Suffice it to say that they are just as varied as the ones mentioned in the above-referenced thread.

I am not sure I followed your post. There are four (4) variations of aircraft in their fleet. It would be interesting to see how the -200's differ from the -700's in terms of routes flown. Yes, obviously the -200's stay close to DAL, but it would just be interesting to see. At least to me, I may be alone on that.

The intrastate and regional routes that the -200s now fly are more conducive to "lines" of flying where an aircraft might fly numerous short segments. The -700s are more likely to be seen on "lines" that have fewer, but longer flights...

BTW, in less than 90 days, all the -200s will be gone.

Bruce, according to the retirement schedule, the last five -200's are to be retired 16 Jan 05.

I go into work on Friday...I can get you guys some routes for some of our planes...The weekend schedule is gunna be a little different since WN operates less flights during those days...
If you want any specific planes or routes just let me know...
And for the last 200 flight I dunno what route she will be on...I can try to find out though...

I'm going to guess here.....just a wild guess.....that it will be San Antonio to Dallas. Reason for that guess is that the -200 was so important in WN's history to help them become what they are, and are a link to WN's past.....and San Antonio is where they originally started. Or my second guess would be Houston to Dallas, two of their biggest markets in Texas.

but what do I know.......

That was my guess as well...Either the last flight will be from Houston, or San Antonio...I'm not to sure where the 200's will be goin...More than likely the will end up in the grave yard...: (...
