MD-11 Fly-By-Wire

Sat Dec 11, 2004 1:20 pm

Is the MD-11 a pure FBW (Fly-By-Wire) aircraft or does it have old fashioned wire & cable controls as back-up as well?

The MD11 is fly by cable. It works, there are rarely problems with it and it is very reliable.

Dear Everybody,

Thanks for the clarification. I thought I had read somewhere that the MD-11 was FBW with cable as backup.
