Airplane Assignment

Sat Mar 05, 2005 8:51 pm

How do airlines assign witch plane a new hire will fly? I read that one regional airline assigned low time pilots to the RJs and higher time pilots to the props but with quicker upgrade time to captain. This seemed kind of awkward.

A lot of times, they will be put wherever there is room, be it props or jets. Sometimes, they'll split the class right down the middle, from what I've heard. Either way, they are still new hires, and have to deal with IOE and reserve.
