Nevertheless, I want to get on with project Lehpron. I created her in July of 2000 and her profile actually has not changed much but her engine has, it is an APED or advanced pulse engine detonation -- which I have had for 8 years.
Originally, Lehpron was conceived to do what NASA did with Hyper-X but takeoff on it's own due to the pulse engine system, which varied over the years. I am trying to prove with Lehpron is that an APED propulsion concept is more efficient, requires less maintenance, less parts and therefore costs less to deal with than the mainstay turbine jet engine at higher speeds and that combined cycle systems are expensive, complex and heavy. I now estimate the costs of traveling at 2 kilometers-per-second on a full-sized, APED-powered airliner at less than $25/kg of payload. To do so I broke her up into 3 phases:
- I would build the engine and run it on a fixed test stand to see if it ran at all. It would have probably cost me $500 and 6 months.
- A motion test, a rocketcar on a roller-coaster track made with pipes from Home Depot just to see if the engine could accelerate itself towards the speed of sound. This may have been $3000 and 2 years. Then distance/cost/time permitting, transition the engine to ramjet mode.
- A flight test of Lehpron about 4 times the size of the rocketcar just flipped upside-down; IMO that will not happen unless I have investors and it may be 10 years away provided I start now.
You can see how behind I am, the rocket car should have already gone supersonic by now...I seem to be extremely procrastinative. Moreover, by the time I finish my graduate studies I should have had a flight vehicle ready, I figured my school could have sponsored it had the rocketcar or even the fixed tests have showed promising results.
N-E-way, I just want to get started on the first phase finally. I got 200 in my account left, any tips or ideas or anything is so greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much.
