Can someone really survive being sucked into a jet engine?
This is amazing that he actually lived.
What are your thoughts on this.?

I guess the inlet guide vanes saved his life. Read somewhere that parts of his helmet went through the engine causing it to fail.

If this is the story I think it is ......

His uniform got caught on a pitot tube inside the intake. He never got to the guide vanes...

If it were an engine without IGV's, a la any modern turbofan, he would have hit rotors, not stators. If that was the case, it would be over quickly....

I can't get the video to load, but assuming from the filename its the Intruder on the deck of a carrier... The story is that the guys helmet was sucked off and hit the blades first, causing everything to shutdown before his head actually hit

I was told that it was wintertime, and he was wearing a parka. That also helped to keep him out of the blades.
The primary function of the design engineer is to make things difficult for the manufacturer and impossible for the AME.

His Floater Vest got cought on a sensor in the intake (probablt T2/P2), there was still enough suction to pull off his cranial/ear defenders. This is what blew the engine. No one realized what had happened until he wriggles out of the intake. His injuries were a broken collar bone and bruises.
