Someone Taking A Bath In This Gulfstream V?

Sun May 08, 2005 10:24 am

Either my eyes really suck or does it not look like someone was sitting in a bathtub at the rear end of the aircraft...right in the window below the registration...

By the way, great Photo and he sure was low...

Sorry mate, that's the APU exhaust.
Monty Python's Flying Circus has nothing to do with aviation, except perhaps for Management personnel.

It's just some metal doohicky, not really sure what it is for.

What bathtub? I can't see anything but the shape of something in the last but one window...

The APU exhaust pipe looks like a person's head (black spot-outlet). The person
looks like they are sitting down. But if you look carefully, it looks more like an exhaust pipe.

The metal "doohickey" is the APU exhaust, which is partially closed(via sliding cover) until the APU is selected. The exhaust door opens as the first step in the start sequence. The only thing in the windows are the open window shades, which are required for landing/take-off. The shadow in the rear window most likely is a seat back.

I know that this is the APU exhaust, but looking at this again it really does look like a guy sitting down.

Quoting Laxinyyz (Reply 6):

With the small fuselage diameter, I would say that he is laying down.

BTW I have seen showers onboard Business jets, but never a bath tub on a airworthy plane. The only bathtub I have seen in a plane was the cockpit-bathtub  confused  in Jo Ann Ussery's Boeing 727.
Yes I mean a real bathtub in a cockpit!!!
Go to Corbis--stock photography and pictures. Search for the name "Jo Ann Ussery". You will get 5 images return.
Have a look at her plane.  eyepopping  She is/was one of the very few female airplanehome owners.  cutie  Regrettably the plane was badly damaged during a transport in the late 90's. So she is back in a normal house.  Sad

There was a 737 in HPN 2 years ago that has a jazzuci in the back of it, A ramper I know told me he will show it to me next time it comes in.
It's covered for takeoff and landing.

Didn't see it come back again...

GRZ, you need some vitamin A because a midget couldn't fit in that spot let alone a bathtub. Its a GV not a 737.

It appears that the thread starter's question has been answered, therefore I am going to make a rare preemptive move and lock this thread.
