Strange Sensor On 747's?

Fri May 13, 2005 10:45 pm

I was looking at a picture of a 747 at SFO, and I noticed what appeared to be a sensor that is right of Engine 2 but left of the main gear. Here is the pic.

I noticed the same thing on an Apache helicopter at an airshow a week ago. After the engine startup, it appeared. Any help with this would be appreciated. (I didn't know what that thing was, and it is kind of hard to do a search on "What is this Thing?". Bear with me, someone might have already asked this.)

I see nothing.... Two Com antennas and a gear door.

As EMBQA mentioned I think what you are referring to is one of the gear doors. If you look at this picture of another UA 744 you can see that it is the gear door. This is assuming that we are looking at the same thing as you are.

Sorry about that. From the perspectve it looked like something I saw on the Apache. Oh well, I guess I still won't know what that thing was.

Would you have a picture of the Apache with that "sensor"?
