777 Engines - Precautions For Such Power?

Thu May 19, 2005 12:29 am

Talking about those huge 777 GE90 engines. I’m always impressed when I realize how much power those engines can deliver : 110,000lb = 49895.16Kg in the case of the 777LR according to the A/C data of a.net ! Now I wonder what are the precautions and eventually problems that can arise when handling such a great power on a technical point of view.

Thanks,

Most all aircraft require a mimimum fuel load to perform a engine power run. I'm not sure what the B777 would be. If your light on fuel, it dosn't matter if the brakes are on or not, the aircraft will slide. For turboporops, the ATR is noted for that....those props will grab some air..!!

One thing that is not allowed that is routinely done with narrow bodies is single engine taxi. Given the wirght of the aircraft and the thrust required to get it moving using one engine could cause a lot of damage.
