Airbus A380 Freighter Question

Fri May 27, 2005 8:16 pm

Hi everyone, hope you all have a good day Smile...
I just read a topic in the main discussion forum about the Freighters Airbus was offering, the latest one is as we know the A380-800F. I just thought of something. Of course I know that one hasn't been built yet but after reading about it I ask myself this:
How will freight be loaded on the A380 Freighter? On the 747 Freighter, the freight is loaded through the nose. The nose is raised but the upper deck where the cockpit is located remains as it is, nothing is done to the upper deck. But on the A380, the flight deck isn't located on the upper deck, it is located between the two decks. You can't rotate the flightdeck while rotating the nose upwards! That's why I'm asking myself if the nose will be raised to load the freight, or if it will be loaded through a side door on the fuselage like on single deck airliners (DC-8, 757-200F, A300F, etc...).

Nose Loading? No.
Side doors on both decks.

Lots of freighters out there have no nose door, even a lot of 747 freighter conversions.

While the nose door is a must for outsize cargo and does increase loading/unloading speed, containers can quite easily be loaded through side doors.

SATL382G, yes you're right. There was a topic about that. Sorry, my mistake, I didn't look before posting. It's been a while since I didn't visit the technical department of
Thanks anyway for your reply.
