Airport Vs Airline Vs No Ramp Control

Once aircraft are out of the movement area, there are three modes of controlling aircraft. 1) Some airports (30 or so) operate their own ramp towers; 2) Some airports (30 or so) that are hubs for some airlines, have airline ramp controllers [There are examples of 1 and 2 in combination]; and 3) Some airports have no ramp control whatsoever and the only guidance given to aircraft for pushbacks is from the ATC tower. Does anyone have a list of 1) Which airports have airport-operated ramp towers, and 2) which airports have airline-operated ramp towers?

I believe in DFW, AA does the ramp controlling, they controll the aircraft from when it turns into the gate, give clearance to push, and hand over control to the airport run ground control once the aircraft has finished pushback. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think that's how it's done.

At LAS the county DOA runs the ramp and there are two different frequencies. One for the west side and one for the east side. DIA has a ramp control for each concourse and I'm guessing they are operated by the airport.

PHL has both an airline ran Ramp Control operated by US Airways which is by A-West. And another tower that is operated by the airport down near the
F-Terminal.

here at LGA we have a combination. depending on what part of the ramp the a/c is parked on, they will first call our airline-operated ramp control but will get pushback instrucions from either ramp or ground control. 6 of our gate pushback onto an active taxiway so the need for ground is important. problems arise when wx delays or other such situations occur. we can incur 20-30 minute delays on pushes.

the other three ramp control towers are operated by AA, UA and DL. we (US) run the ramp around our terminal. each tower has control over what they can see, so if you are parking on a gate that cannot be seen from, say, the UA tower you may be handed over to the AA or even our tower for parking cleanrance. it all depends on what the towers can see. now... i need sleep.

At LAX, at least some of the airlines operate ramp controls. I know UA, DL and AA operate the ramp controls for the south side of the airport.

At JFK, JetBlue operates the ramp control for T6 while the airport operates the ramp for international T4. I took a tour of the T4 ramp tower and it's a mini-control tower!

I'd have to imagine that ATL uses airport ramp control but don't quote me on that.

CO has a little ramp tower in Terminal C or EWR. In this picture, you can see the small tower near the center of the picture, and the real tower over to the left.

Continental employees do ramp control in Cleveland, Houston (IAH), and Newark. In Cleveland, Continental Ramp Control controls gates B1 through B7, and the entire C and D Concourses. Airlines in this area include: Continental/Continental Express/Commutair, Northwest/Mesaba/Pinacle, United/United Express, and Air Canada Jazz.

More on LAX....For the alley between T3 and TBIT, AS works ramp tower control for this area....

In PHX HP operates ramp control for the T4 North concourses.

At LAX I've always wondered, most ramp controls have at least a small tower to view the concourses, but each LAX concourse doesn't have one.

Where are the ramp control stations located at? Are they in the old tower or located in the new ATCT?
