Any idea how long their turn-around is....I have been told up to 120 days...but I assume they come in better then that...

Doesn't usually take that long. 1-2 months, maybe.

I've found the backlog to be about 60-90 days for new certificates, although my most recent addition was almost 2 years ago. I'm not exactly sure where it is now.

It's been a while since I got my PPL, just after spring break actually. When I left for summer vacations (last week of june) I still hadn't received it. I'll be pissed if I don't have it in my mailbox by the time school starts.  gnasher

They took such a long time I thought it was "lost in the mail". They are very slow. It took almost three months to get it.

For a Private Pilot certificate, turn has been between 50 and 60 days latley.

I passed my PPL checkride on April 30th...got my card from the FAA 53 days later. Most students at the FBO I work at have been getting theirs in about the same timeframe.

Hope that helps!

Cheers,

Mike

I've heard 6-8 weeks. They're super slow and will take their time. I'm not expecting my PPL for at least a few months.

Most of my students got theirs at the limit, minus a week or two. One had to go down to the local FSDO a week before the expriration of his temporary certificate and get an extension from them.

I'd follow up if you get within ten days of expiration.

Again, congratulations. Welcome to the wonderful world of operational control.

I might add that it may make a difference if you submit your paperwork using the "old" Form 8710 or submit it online using IACRA. The DE that does most of our checks prefers using IACRA and it seems to speed things up. Eliminates the redundancy of you filling everthing out and then someone in OKC having to enter it all into the FAA computer system. With IACRA, it's all done at once. Using the paper 8710, I can see where that could take another couple of weeks or more.

Regards,

Mike

Well, I just hope the real one shows up during my last college semester.

That way I can show the professors the real document that I skipped the last month of classes there to get.

Still made the Deans list for the 2nd semester though.

What type of certificate are you talking about?

Airplane Type Certificates take about 90 days from the input of the last compliance data. Of course, the dialog and submittals leading up to this point usually has been going on for three to four years.

Well I haven't done anything significant with my driver's certificate in the last five or so years, but...
I submitted a change of address for my A&P on the 13th of July and got the new one in the mail today.
Maybe you "stick actuator" types need a better union to get this stuff processed faster, eh?  Smile  Smile

If you go to this website...
http://registry.faa.gov/airmen.asp

There is a general note:
We are currently processing applications and mailing out permanent certificates with a Temporary Certificate Date of Issue of xxxx...

Just keep checking the site and you'll see what date they're processing. So when the date of issue for your temporary comes up, they've processed your permanent one. The permanent one will have the same date as your temporary one.

I got my instructor certificate on Jun 3d, so they should be getting to my application pretty soon.

Congrats on your dispatcher certificate...

Have you started looking at the various companies for a position yet?

Nope, Because I have one class left at the local univerisity of average acheivers, I am not exactly mobile when looking for work, and I have limits on my available hours.

Right now I have a good job as a contractor with one of the oil companies up here. The hours of work line up perfectly with my one remaining class for my BBA at the local U. Both are supposed to end in December.

At that point, when I do hit the job market, I should have the Dispatch License, My BAA with an Aviation Tech minor and my AA from two years ago.

So, starting next year, I should be in an excellent position to more around.

I dont remember how long I waited for my private to arrive. When I got the instrument rating it seemed quick like a month or two. However.....
For the A&P license I got it on exactly the 120th day!! That was a long while but that was right after 9/11 happened.
