NWA Maintenance Question

Sun Jul 24, 2005 7:40 pm

Hi everyone,

At LGW recently I very frequently see a NW DC-10 in one of the hangars. Do they have some kind of maintenance base here or are there other reasons. I did think it could have been re-painting but I saw a new colours one there yesterday and it was very dirty so no-way was being re-painted.

Many thanks

They could be looking for parts for it

Possibly, this is just where they park it until it returns to DTW, instead of occupying the jetbridge.

I THINK that it goes in the DAS hangar for a check up before heading back on its way again the next day

I think all of the Dc-10 work at NW is outsourced to third party. If it is in a hangar it is most likely getting some sort of a check.

NWA does not do any major maintenance at LGW or anywhere else in Europe IIRC.

Well then I guess those old DC-10s must be going U/S a hell of a lot and are maybe in the hangar for some ad-hoc maintenance by a third-party or the NWA guys have come over to fix it.

They will not be parked in a hangar to save gate space as there is plenty of remote parking at LGW where the aircraft could be kept.

Some maintenance is still done at MSP by NWA itself. I'm not sure how long this will go one. Ferry flights take place to and from SAT for maintenance about every two weeks for the DC-10.
