Wake Turbulence - How Is It Measured?

Wed Dec 21, 2005 12:20 am

As Airbus will fly a back-to-back test during 2006 involving an A380, a 747-400 and a 777, as well as an A320, to generate comparative data for analysis I was wondering how these tests are carried ? How wake turbulence is measured and datas are retrieved ? Thanks !

I heard that NASA has been investigating instrumentation for detecting the presence and movement of vortices near runways, using a CO2 Doppler laser velocity-measuring system adapted from a CAT detection system.
Read it someplace on the net.
I may not win often, but I damn well never lose!!! ;)
