Airport Lighting Differences

Mon Feb 06, 2006 7:04 am

Are the green/white beacons that depict a civilian airport USA only or worldwide? I always see them in the US both from the air and on the ground at airports but have never seen one here in the UK.

Same question for the strobe that marks the approach to the runway. They seem to be the norm in the US but I haven't seen them here in the UK - just static approach lights.

Any help appreciated.

I think the green/white beacon is worldwide. I'm pretty sure I saw TXLs from the Fernsehnturm in Berlin.
