Okay all the Fokker F.27, Rolls Royce Dart and Dowty Rotol Propeller experts, I have question for you all....
This is regarding the Fokker F.27-MK 500 series and its American License built equivelant the Fairchild Hiller FH-227.
My question is:
Can the same propeller that was standard on the Fairchild Hiller FH-227 which is 12 feet 6 inches in diameter (Pointy End) and fitted in place of the factory installed 11 feet 6 inch (Square Tipped) props that apparently improved performace, could this same 12 foot 5 inch foot prop have been retrofitted to the Fokker F.27 MK 500 series to also improve performance?
Could this be done to any surviving Fokker F.27-500s??
In the end of Fairchild F-27 production, the 11 foot 6 inch props on the Fairchild F-27J model were replaced with the 12 foot 6 inch prop to make the higher performance F-27M for high altitude operations by Lloyd Aereo Boliviano.
So back to my question, could present day operators get any better performance out of their Fokker F.27-500s with such a retrofit?
