A320 Range From Dublin/EIDW

Wed Sep 20, 2006 1:00 am

Could anybody tell me what is the range of an A320 with a departure form Dublin with 179 pax. Specifically could it fly EIDW to GVAC (Sal Cape Verde)
without a refuelling stop on either leg. Distance shows as 2335.6nm each leg.
Thanks in advance.

The actual route would be something like EIDW BEPAN UP620 KORUL UN866 STG UP600 FTM UN872 ESP UZ4 BAROK UN873 IPERA UZ1 KABRA GVAC which is 2442 nm.

As a guide, for sectors over 1000 nm on the 320 a quick and nasty way to calculate the fuel is this

((0.5*dist*10)+1000)*1.05, which comes to about 13.9t, say 17t with reserves.

MTOW 77t
OW 43t
Fuel 17t

Available payload would then be 17t, 179 pax and bags would be about 16t.

So yes, with about 1t to spare.
