Does Anyone Here Fly The Piper Aztec

Sun Oct 29, 2006 11:58 am

Hi,

Tomorrow will be my first day flying the Piper Aztec and my first time ever flying a twin. (Given the weather is good). Does anyone here fly it? What do you think of it? How did you find moving from a single engine to a Multi? How does it perform in comparison to other trainers (twins)? Any advice? (I know my instructor will take care of the "advice" part, but it's nice to hear your opinion.)

Cheers,

Vio

I've never flown an Aztec, but they are great little planes to look at! I really like Sportys... their's are beautiful.

Easier handling on one engine than many others, not especially fast but with turbos (if so equipped) moves along quite nicely, carries ice OK (but you should stay out of it anyway, of course),has superb short field capabilities, nice to have electric trim as the handles on the ceiling are a pain, good stout landing gear...and oh yes, if it has only one engine with a hydraulic pump (some have one on each engine), be prepared to have great fun pumping up the gear...!

Enjoy.
