Webcheckin And Foreign Hosts

Mon Nov 20, 2006 11:22 pm

I'm a little curious on what an airline does to offer webcheckin from airports where it's handled on a different DCS than its own.

I know that in certain cities Ryanair brings a list of web-checked-in pax from its ticketcounter to the ground handler for them to be checked in again. I know other airlines just inhibit certain cities.

Anyone knows what other solutions that are out there?

I think you will find that with large carriers, the advent of CUTE means that all flights are checked in in your own DCS system.
Before CUTE is was very common to transfer to the local handlers system for checkin, but this is a dying practice (well in Europe anyway).
Also 20 years ago you needed weeks of training to handle a res system, they are very complex. But now the airlines have devised front ends for them that are nearly in plain language so the local check in staff can handle each companys differing systems with minimal training.
