I'd like to get some feedback and opinions on what you think is the best or one of the best regionals in the US and why.

This may be better off in the Polls and Preferences forum...

Anyways, if you can still obtain today's (1/2/07) Wall Street Journal, there is a lengthy article that breaks down some of the worst regional carriers as far as on time performance and mishandled baggage incidents.

and mishandled baggage incidents.

Most regional airlines have baggage and ground service done by the majors.

One regional airline I know that has baggage handlers in ATL is ASA but it has been taken over by DL due to worst handling of ASA's rampers in the lost baggages.

As a pilot,

SkyWest and Horizon always are in the top regional airlines. They pay the best and overall treat their employees the best. Among the lower ranks would be Great Lakes, Mesa Air Group, Gulfstream Intl., and the now sorta-maybe-who knows defunct RegionsAir.

The likes of Comair, ASA, American Eagle, Mesaba, ExpressJet, PenAir, Commutair etc. are usually in the mid category of decent regions. Not too bad on the pay but not exactly the top end.
