707 Section 41 Compaired To A 727& 737?

Fri Jan 12, 2007 8:47 am

I thought 707s, 727s and 737s had the same section 41. I recently fond out that a 707 section 41 is deeper and taller than the ones on a 727s or 737s. I always thought the 707 looked taller than 727s and 737s head on , and when I learned this, it hit me why. I was wondering how much more height is in a 707 section 41?

They have their similarities, but they are not the same. The nose wheel well is different in all models.

Someone might want to update Wikipedia's section 41 article:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Section_41

And I quote:

"The 707/720, 727, and 737 have a common Section 41. Newer versions of the 737 have a different avionics package while retaining structural commonality."

I believe you guys are right, however I will defer the editing to someone who knows more than I do...

There is a difference in general height between the models, however, I am not sure of the numbers at the moment...

Quoting 747400sp (Thread starter):

I don't know but I'm 6'3" and when I climb in the front pit of 707 I have considerably more headroom than I do in a 737 or 727.

My belief is that any structural commonality in section 41, if there is any, is in the cab structure above floor level. Below floor level is certainly different with different E&E and nose landing gear bays.

Tle nose landing gear is much bigger on a 707 compared to the 72,73 thus the gear whell or dog house is much bigger thus a bigger 41 section.
I would help you but it is not in the contract
