Dash-8-300 Performance Question

Fri Jan 19, 2007 7:44 am

I am curious as to what the typical climb and cruise power settings and speeds are for the Dash-8-300. I realize temperature and weight are factors, but I'd like some "ballpark" numbers to play with. Torque, Prop RPM, fuel flow, ITT temps, IAS, etc .... for climb, cruise and approach. Many thanks

Prop rpm "Np" 1200 for takeoff, 900 cruise, 1050 on short final, minimum 785 out of feather, and IIRC 250 rpm feathered. Fuel burn is approx 250 pph at idle for each engine. Torque is maximum 90%. That's all that comes to mind now. I'm not a pilot, but I've done a lot of taxi and power runs, although not for a few years now. Oh yeah, max ITT 805 C. Nh (high pressure compressor rpm) minimum 60% (65?). HTH.

We'd ususaly run the engines at max torque in cruise, 96% at low alt in winter, and lower as you climb or when its warmer, usualy keeping the ITT around 720-740 C. You'd usualy get around 240-260 TAS. Vmo was 243 IRC, but you only saw that in a decent (h/s decent was 1000 fpm untill you appraoch Vmo, reduce to 700 fpm, then ride the barber pole on down). Not so sure about fuel flow, but I wan to say around 800-1000 lbs/hr/side around 10-15,000'. These are my best recollections as most of my time was in teh -100, and I don't currently fly either.
When in doubt, one B pump off
