A345,

is the only one I can comment somewhat knowledgeably on, as it's currently the longest commercial flight. EWR-SIN, which can get up to 18+ hours (at least in one of the directions...). According to the Great Circle Mapper, it's 8285 in a great circle line, which would take just over 15 hours at 550 kts groundspeed (and goes almost directly over the north pole).

I would hazard a guess that one of the longer B744 flights is United's ORD-HKG, at 6773 nm (great circle).

Also, I think Delta just started flying a B772ER from New York to Bombay, which clocks in at 6777 nm (great circle).

That's all I can think of right now.

I think their longest is EWR-TXL - btw it's the same distance westbound  Wink

A340-500 longest n/s sector AFAIK is SQ's EWR-SIN

B772ER AFAIK longest n/s sector is CO's EWR-HKG

and this one's a wild guess A330 LAS-MAN w/ BD..?

Actually the westbound flight is usually longer (in air miles, due to the prevailing westerly wind / jetstream).

Continental 97 of today (TXL-EWR) has a flight plan time of 08:51, wheras the 96 of yesterday (EWR-TXL) took 07:08.

It's not often you see such a big difference, some strong jetstreams this week over the Atlantic!

I flew La Paz, Bolivia to Miami, USA via Santa Cruz, Bolivia (for refuelling) on an AA 757 and I was on the plane for a lot longer than 8 hours. We weren't allowed to get off in Santa Cruz so had to stay seated, factor in a delay as well. It was terrible!!

As soon as we arrived in Miami we transferred onto a 777 to London which took another 10 hours or so. Not a nice journey at all. The only thing that made that second flight a bit more bareable was that we had 2 window seats so it was quite private.

You're asking about scheduled flights, not one-time flights? And just current, or in the past too?

Been there, done that, got the T-Shirt. Some very strong headwinds and the holding patten at EWR left me on OSL-EWR for 9.5 hours. However, this includes an hour on the ground when they got a scare with luggage. Being in cattle class on any airplane for 9.5 hours aint too much fun. Exit row or C or F is a different story...

IST-ORD : 5491 mi (wow)

I believe IST-ORD is only done with A340s.

The longest A330 flight AFAIK is Air France #272 from Paris to Tokyo: 5256 nm. 12hours 20 minutes Eastbound, 12 hours 45 minutes Westbound.

Sorry, I didn't express myself very well: on that route, I believe that only A340s are scheduled. A330s are used on an exceptional basis for operational reasons.

If that is incorrect, then that must indeed be the longest scheduled A330 route.

I believe you're correct. The A330's were/are substituted while the A340's were being refitted (IIRC.)

You were right the first time. AFR's CDG-NRT is 5256 nm, while THY''s IST-ORD is only 4771 nm. (The mileage quoted prior to your post was not in nm.) In either case, both flights are quite a distance!
