Attention: All AMT IA's

Fri Feb 02, 2007 11:29 pm

FYI to all current IA's:

The 11th Annual Greater Southwest Aviation Maintenance Technician Symposium is scheduled in Arizona for March 8th and 9th, 2007, at Williams Gateway Airport (IWA) located in Mesa, Arizona. To attend, please sign up on this website: http://www.cgc.maricopa.edu/aviation/symposium. This will be the only IA renewal seminar conducted by the Scottsdale Flight Standards District Office in Arizona.

There are some familiar and new methods to renew your Inspector Authorization (IA):

1) Mail or bring to our office: Federal Aviation Administration Scottsdale FSDO, 17777 N. Perimeter Drive, Suite 101, Scottsdale, AZ 85255. A completed and signed, AT Macedonian Airlines (Greece)">IN DUPLICATE, FAA form 8610.1, and attach a list of IA activities for the prior 12 months...

If you are attending The Greater Southwest Aviation Maintenance Technician Symposium - please register at the IA desk beginning at 7:00am each day. Classes start at 8:00am. Please bring completed and signed, in duplicate, FAA form 8610.1. Attendance of eight classes at this symposium qualifies a person for IA Renewal. THERE IS NO FEE REQUIRED FOR ATTENDANCE AT THIS SYMPOSIUM. (Lunch will be provided, but you need to pay for it...)

Note: Application for Inspection Authorization, FAA Form 8610.1, can be downloaded from the following website: http://forms.faa.gov/forms/faa8610-1.pdf

My understanding about this Symposium is that the IA renewals that will be issued here at IWA are going to be free of charge. This is a great way to save money on IA renewals and having to study for the exam. As a AMT student here at Chandler-Gilbert Community College, I am required to attend the Symposium anyway. Please spread the word. We get 1,200 people here on both days so its a great opportunity for those who have IA's. I hope to see some A.netters there!

And....those who are wondering "Can I attend to the Symposium just for the hell of it?" The anwser is YES, but you do still need to register. You'll get a certificate of attendance from the Scottsdale FSDO to obtain a MX award. Everyone is welcome, its a free event. This is a great opportunity for A&P's in Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico and nationwide to attend to keep the refresher going.
