What is meant by a Lambda approach? is is specific to jet types?

The only context I have ever heard of it is in Calculus and computer programming. In my time in aviation, I have never heard of the Lambda approach used in an aviation sense.....

I came across the term while watching a video of an LTU A330-200, on several approaches with different crews they used the expression "Lamda approach". I have also heard the expression "Beta approach" for propeller aircraft where the props are adjusted to a "flat" position which acts like a speed break reducing the landing space needed.
