I have read on many thread that 772LR should be unable to perform Sydney-London all year round. Well, I shall try to make the point.
A well informed member of this forum said that the still air range (301 pax and baggage) is 9700 nm. The last version of 772LR to be delivered
to Air India is with 266 pax. What means to spare 3.500 ks. A manager of Boeing told recently to ATWonline that this plane has received some
upgrade (i.e. less structural and interior weight), and all that should be, with three or more auxiliary tanks, more than enough to fly 21 hours
with 266 pax (the weight spared should be enough to reach the amount of fuel to 170 tons). Has someone technical data to evaluate
the amount of fuel necessary in winter to perform Sydney-London with 266 pax, that already should be possible to perform taking
account of all these information? Has to this date anyone ordered a 772LR with three optional tanks?
