Thu Apr 26, 2007 12:31 pm

I was wonder is 737 300, 400 and 500 made of all metal, are do they have some composite in them? Also do the BAe 146 has a metal structure, are do they have composite in them?

Fiberglass is a composite.

I'd imagine that the 737 has some fiberglass somewhere.

Boeing did fit 5 737-200's with composite horizontal stabilizers.

All Boeing aircraft have some composites. Every wing to body fairing and flap fairing is composite. Also a lot of the wing panels are composite. I did work on a couple of the 737 that had the composite tails. They were a real pain. We found a lot of cracks. The aluminum ones rarely had any.

Hi Nonfirm, Buzz here. And then there's that large fiberglass air conditioning panel door on the belly of the 737's. It's much handier than the one on the Airbus... easy to open.
