Need Good Jet Engine Reference Book

Thu May 24, 2007 10:44 am

I am looking for a good commercial jet engine reference book. Need info on applications and differences in the evolution of the different models. Does anyone have a recommendation? I found "Aircraft Engines and Gas Turbines, Second Edition" by Kerrebrok on amazon.com but it may be more geared towards engine design and that is not what I need. Thanks in advance for any inputs.

"The Jet Engine" by Rolls Royce. I'm actually in the middle of reading it at the moment.

I have heard good things on this board about: "Jet Engines: Fundamentals of Theory, Design and Operation (Hardcover) "

and

the aforementioned "The Jet Engine - Rolls Royce Limited"

As others mentioned before, "The Jet Engine" from Rolls-Royce is definately a very good information source!

Quoting Starlionblue (Reply 3):
Jet Engines: Fundamentals of Theory, Design and Operation

That is an awesome book: lots of physics, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and the like, but it makes for an interesting read.

I have read from people on this forum that this book is a good one. I probably will acquire it in the near future.

The Rolls Royce book is an awesome book, I also seem to recall an mate of mine had a Pratt & Whitney book during our apprenticeship. It was the only one I have ever seen, but might be worth looking at too!
