Widebodies At MXE

Sat Feb 09, 2008 12:39 am

What is the typical landing distance for the 747 and the DC-10? I know they are going to Maxton, NC to be stored or scrapped, so they are empty. Just curious if they push the limits of the longest rwy, being around 6500 feet.

They aren't even coming close to the limits.
MZJ has 5800 ft and there's shorter fields in use. I saw a 747-200 depart from there on a flight to DUS (granted it took all of the pavement and probably some of the desert too but . . .)
Funny about the identifier, MEB), USA - North Carolina">MXE. I'd never heard of it before. We used to shoot approaches and occasionally land there but we used KMEB or just MEB.
Are the Knights still working out of there?
