Ultra-short-haul Performance Of The V2500

In the discussions over in the CivAv forum about the Aloha shutdown, people have suggested that United might send out 737-500s out to Hawaii to run inter-island flights, and this brings back the response of Aloha's poor experiences with the CFM56 powered 737-300 and 737-400 on inter-island flights, as the engines suffered from not having a chance to cool either at cruise or on the ground, due to the very short flights with short turns.

But, what about the V2500 engines on United's A319s and A320s? Has any airline had any experiences with the same sort of flying with these engines, and do they suffer from the same issues as the CFM56?

I have always heard through a.net that the CFM is a better engine than the V2500 for short as it is a more efficient engine on shorter ops, but the V2500 really shines on the longer sectors. So with that reasoning, I wouldn't think the V2500 would be very well suited to island hopping in Hawaii.
