Delta Airlines Tech/Ops in ATL

Sun Jun 29, 2008 5:36 pm

Hey Guys:

I have noticed many great pictures of the planes DL works on at their ATL TOC, it is also where DL and a few others get their planes painted too! After looking at these great pictures I have a few questions that maybe you guys will be able to answer.

1.) What kind of planes are they certified to work on - even airbus planes too?

2.) What types of a/c can they work on?

3.) What airlines get their planes painted there, could they paint any airplane in their hangars?

Thanks Guys!

Delta Airlines Tech/Ops in ATL

Sun Jun 29, 2008 5:58 pm

TechOps performs maintenance on numerous aircraft types - and yes, even Airbus. If you recall, Delta once flew a fleet of Airbus A310s. Is is not uncommon to see other airline's aircraft undergoing maintenance at the TOC - namely Aeromexico, World Airways, Cayman, and many others. The same goes for paint. ABX Air and Ryan International have cycled aircraft through for paint recently.

TechOps can (and has) painted aircraft as large as 747-400s. There are three paint bays at the ATL TOC.
Change is: one airline, six continents!

Boeing,Airbus,Dougles,MD,Lockhead

Quoting SXDFC (Thread starter):

AFAIK DC-10,MD-11,A32S,737(all types),757(200,300) 767(all) 777(not sure if they can work on 77Ws) L1011s MD-80,MD-90,A310,A300(I'm pretty sure I saw a FX A300 in there one time but it could have been a A310) DC-9 (10,30,40,50) DC-8(not sure on the types) thats all I can think of but i'm sure i missed some.

They can paint any plane but I'm not sure what airlines get work done by Delta.
Delta TechOps is the 2nd largest contract company in the world.
New airliners.net web site sucks....
Also the mods want to kill free speech and prevent people from saying things like the above. Better say nothing about awesomeness for this place or else!

You see a lot of other airlines' aircraft down there. I've heard from a number of people that they're still considered among the best when it comes to DC-10/MD-11 mx. Recently I've seen a 767 from Royal Air Maroc spending some time there, as well as a number of World MD-11s. EOS aircraft have been parked next to the hangars as well. I believe in that case Delta owns the engines.

DC-8(not sure on the types)

Remember that DAL had DC8s at one time; to include some re-engined CFM equipped DC8s in the mid 80s, so probably all of the types that DAL had at one time...
Nobody screws you better than an airline job!

We took a field trip over to the tech/ops facility when I was in F/A training and they were painting a Royal Air Moroc 767.
