DC-6/DC-7 Approach Speeds

Fri Feb 13, 2009 5:23 pm

Does anybody happen to know the approach speed of the DC-6 or DC-7B/C? I cannot find any information on the Boeing website regarding this and am a bit lost on where to look next. Thanks for your help!

This Boeing document (including many previous Douglas/McDonnell-Douglas types) shows the approach speed as 108 kts for the DC-6A/B and 110 kts for the DC-7C.

Doesn't it vary according to landing weight like it does on a jet?

Brooks gives the "Approach speed (1.3Vso)" in miles/hour (not knots) at the respective maximum landing weights:

DC4 63500 lb 109
DC7B 102000 133
DC7C 111000 131

L749A 89500 117
L1049G 113000 132
L1649 123000 131

No mention of flap setting.

Very little, unless very light...as in empty.
