Question: Difference A321-200 And Engine Options?

Mon Jul 13, 2009 4:14 am

I was just wondering what the difference between say the A321-211 vs. -212 and the A321-231 vs. -232 were? I know that A321s with the -211 are CFM and -231 are IAE powered, but specifically, what is the difference between the -211 and -212/-214? Then what is the difference between the -231 and -232?

I suspect it's the thrust rating. The engines are physically the same, but you can put different rating plugs in them to adjust the thrust.

Here are the versions. As mentioned it's all thrust ratings. And btw does anyone have the -214 engine designation?

A321
-111 = CFM56-5B1
-112 = CFM56-5B2
-131 = IAEV2530-A5
-211 = CFM56-5B3/P
-212 = CFM56-5B1 or CFM565B1/2
-213 = CFM56-5B2
-231 = IAEV2533-A5
-232 = IAEV2530-A5
