What Is This Device In The Cockpit For?

If you look at the photos below, you will see some sort of "viewing" devices in the centre of the centre console. It looks like it is some sort of radar/nav-aid viewing screen. It has a bellows which leads to me to believe again that it is so sort of focused screen.

What is it?

My guess would be radar.. remember.. it's old school Russian....

I would also guess weather radar.

Yep, thats the good ol' fashioned weather radar that pretty much all of the soviet aircraft had in that era...
(I severely doubt many of them still work very well though  Big grin)
