Equipment Question On 747-8 And 787

Tue Feb 09, 2010 6:53 pm

Forgive me if this question is redundant. I searched but didn't see it anywhere.

Does anyone know what the "cable" trailing the top edge of the vertical stabilizer is for on the 747-8 and the 787 Dreamliner? I don't recall seeing it on other Boeing equipment.

It can be seen pretty clearly here;

and here:

Thanks!

That is because it is flight test equipment and is, of course, not present on production models. I forget what it is exactly, but I want to say that it is some sort of air data probe, but that object is pretty common of test flights.
Why do Aerospace Engineering students have to turn things in on time?
