PW PT6A Hot Section Inspection, Procedure?

As the title says, what does an HSI involve for this engine? Anything specific to the PT6A-42?

I've read and heard conflicting info regarding this. Some saying it's just a simple borescope inspection, other saying it's a minor overhaul. Some saying it costs, $5 grand, others $50 grand.

Any MX guys care to enlighten me?

C'mon guys you're letting me down. With all the wrench benders i fail to believe nobody has never touched a PT6...

It's been a while and I was qual'd on the -27. Borescope is the start but any indication of a problem usually involves splitting the casing for a closer look and possible repair. All I can say is be prepared for the worst.

It's been years since I've been in a PT6, but I remember it was assigned based on trend or something timed out. First they would have us looking for air leaks, indication systems cal check, and then a chem wash. If that didn't help we would split the engine open and of course find that the CT vane ring was toast. I don't recall borescopes being carried out to often, everytime we were tasked to open one, it was either for bad ITT components or the CT disc and vane ring was bad. We used stuff from Turbopower in Miami (don't know if they still exist) and their kits were great, never had to grind...
