A320 Family - Flap Extension Rate

Mon Mar 15, 2010 4:52 pm

Hello Everyone,

Aboard a Virgin America A319 and while beginning taxi for take-off, I noticed that the flaps extended very rapidly vs. all other A320 flights I had been on. I'm pretty sure the flaps were set to Config 1+F, but it was worth noticing just how fast they rushed from Up to 1+F. I don't know, I think 2 - 3 seconds max.

I know that Virgin's A319s are newer aircraft, so perhaps this has to do with it? Has anyone else noticed this rate?

If this is true and not my imagination at work, what would be the reason behind this?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
Bernie

We have a total of 28 a/c averaging 2.8 years. The average age on the A319 is 2.4 years vs. 3 years on the A320. I see this making no real difference.

I have never noticed this before, while working. Where were you flying to and from?
