Md80 And DC9 Landing Gear?

Sat Jul 31, 2010 6:42 pm

While there have been many topics about the MD11 non fuse pin landing gear,I been wondering how it is on the DC 9 and MD80-90 and 717.There have been many landing accidents over the many years with this type. While there have been damage to the rear part of the fuselage, the landing gear and wing seems to an uneducated like me to withstand almost everything. In the Eastern - 2000 ft/min impact either gear or wing snapped.Comment from people with knowledge are welcome.
