Delta N140LL (ETOPS Domestic 767-300) WFU?

Mon Jan 31, 2011 2:09 am

According to Planespotters, one of Delta's ETOPS 767-300s (N140LL) has been WFU. I find this hard to believe, considering that it is one of Delta's ETOPS domestic 763s, as well as the fact that DL has stated they will be bringing all stored domestic 763s back into service.

Can anyone confirm?

What does WFU mean? I do not understand what the acronym is.
If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!

Something isn't right with this bird.

It shows for sale on Boeing.com by some leasing company but Delta owns this plane(and the 3 other 332s with the big PWs)......or they have dumped her in the last year or so(and i haven't seen anything in any SEC reports about selling 332s only buying 10 of the GE birds)
New airliners.net web site sucks.

According to the listing over at SpeedNews, it is for sale by the leasing company but with lease attached, so even if ownership changes I doubt it will be leaving Delta anytime soon.

Of the 21 767-332s, I could find 6 that listed someone other than Delta as the registered owner, those are N124DE, N125DL, N126DL, N130DL, N140LL and N1402A. This is per the FAA's website.

It could be that Delta made an offer to purchase it outright but the current owner wants to get an idea of whether or not someone else might offer more.

I think deltal1011man is refering to the boeing cust. number 767-332. We called them by the boeing number because Delta has so many types of 767's   You should see the engine list

Actually, that's a great idea! Can we see the engine list? I'll start...

GE

CF6-80C2B6
CF6-80C2B6F
CF6-80C2B8F

PW

Can anyone update this if I am incorrect or add if I've missed any?

Interesting. Never knew that DL switched between Pratt and GE on th3 767-300's. Any idea why?

For the -332 Domestic, GE stopped producing the -80A2 engine.

I have no idea why the ER went to GE.

From what understand and remember. That Pratt made Delta a Deal to supply the Full FADAC 4000 for the 767-332ER that were ordered. Then when Delta went back to take some of the options that didn't have engine set. GE offered a better price on the full FADAC CF-6-60-C2. I guess with the MD-11 going Pratt and a large Pratt fleet, that GE wanted in. I kinda thought GECAS help with that second batch, but I could be wrong ( I can't believe im getting that old ) As a side note I just drove by 1401 at the Gate

Isn't it a lot more costly to ETOPS a CF6-80A since it was designed before ETOPS came about? You don't see many ETOPS birds equipped with that engine, and none of DL's are. The only two I can think of are the two ex-DL 763As that are with Ryan Int'l now.

The ones I know about are the 4 ex-DL 763 with HAL with A2's. I think they use to be ships 116 thru 119. They were up at paine a while getting modified a few years back.
