Did Convair Work On A Widebody Design?

Thu Feb 24, 2011 8:48 pm

I read in a book, that Convair was also working on a widebody design when Boeing was working on the 747, Lockheed on the L1011 Tristar and Mc Donnell Douglas on the DC-10. So was there a Convair widebody design, and if so, could somobody destribe it to me?

I never saw a Convair wide body design. However, Convair was a Douglas sub-contractor, building the fuselage for the DC-10.

I thought Convair gave up airliner production after the CV990 failure. They did however, become a contractor, building DC-10 and MD-11 fuselages.

To me yes. Even if it was a prop job. Anything that big is a jumbo aircraft.

Google image the name. Lots of photos.
