Strange Notams

Wed Mar 23, 2011 9:38 pm

Part of planning a flight though Polish airspace is having to dig your way through all the airlines and air transportation companies that are not allowed to overfly Poland due to one reason or another but this one caught my attention:

https://pilotweb.nas.faa.gov/PilotWeb/notamRetrievalByICAOAction.do?method=displayByICAOs

B1281/11 - PERMISSIONS FOR ENTRY INTO POLISH AIRSPACE WILL NOT BE GRANTED
FOR
THE FOLLOWING AIR CARRIER:
AIRTRAN AIRWAYS INC -/TRS/- UNITED STATES
DUE TO UNFULFILLED CONDITIONS DESCRIBED IN AIP POLAND GEN 4.2. 09 MAR 00:00
2011 UNTIL 09 JUN 23:59 2011 ESTIMATED. CREATED: 07 MAR 11:39 2011

Perhaps a new international destination is in the works??? Or are they just leasing an aircraft?

How about you? Seen any strange ones lately?

AIP POLAND GEN 4.2 (PDF File) deals with air navigation charges. Has AirTran done any military charters?

A Google search turns up a lot of aircraft operators have run afoul of this provision.
I lift things up and put them down.

It is for outstanding parking and passenger charges, the have a long list of airlines on the list.

When has AirTran ever come within 1000nm of the Polish border?

The only situation I can imagine when they'd have come within 3000nm (never mind 1000nm) would be if the A320s they used for a while came from a European operator, and they were picked up and flown through Polish airspace on their way to the US.

Who has to use google? The actual notams are there and available to the public. Also why I wrote that digging through their notams is onerous due to all the airlines, each with their own notam, who are not allowed to overfly Poland for one reason or another.

When has AirTran ever scheduled service in to or out of Poland?

The notam is recent and I've never seen it for them before this.
